More than just a clinic, Calistoga Pet Clinic is a place where pets become a part of the extended family. Dr. Steve Franquelin, the clinic’s owner, proudly upholds this tradition. A true local, Dr. Franquelin was born and raised in Napa Valley and is a graduate of UC Davis, where he earned his BS and DVM in 1992. His passion for veterinary medicine, the well-being of his patients, and the community is evident in every aspect of his work. Dr. Franquelin specializes in providing the latest and most advanced care to his patients and is renowned for his compassion and empathy, particularly in hospice and end-of-life care. When he’s not at the clinic, he enjoys fly-fishing, hiking, scouting, reading, skiing, and cooking. Dr. Franquelin resides in Napa with his three children.
Joining Dr. Franquelin is an experienced and dedicated team. Caitlynn, a certified veterinary technician, has been with Calistoga Pet Clinic since 2013. Her expertise includes emergency medicine and animal behavior, and she particularly enjoys dental cleanings and educating clients. Caitlynn also contributes to the community by fostering bottle babies for Wine Country Animal Lovers and sharing her home with seven dogs, three cats, and a horse.
Claudia, the head receptionist, arrived in 2019 with a background in psychology and special education. Her bilingual skills and nurturing nature make her an essential caregiver for both patients and clients. With her husband and two sons, Claudia has been part of the Napa Valley community for over 12 years, and her home is graced by three dogs and two cats. She treasures making memories with friends and family in her free time.
Stacy, the newest addition to the team, brought her experience from Minneapolis, MN, where she worked at Lake Harriet Veterinary for eight years as an appointment technician and lead receptionist. She now resides in Calistoga with her fiancé, Erik, and her beloved Cavalier King Charles named Succotash.
Haley, a lifelong Californian, turned her passion for animals into a career as a receptionist at the clinic. She also dedicates her time to volunteering for the Wine Country Animal Lovers foster team, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
Finally, Calistoga native Kayla has been part of the Calistoga Pet Clinic team since 2015, wearing various hats from kennel staff to technician assistant and receptionist. When she’s not at the clinic, Kayla enjoys leisurely bike rides with her one-year-old daughter and her canine companions.
